Guides Getting to the airport
Fastest from the city centre: Aerobús (simple, frequent) or a taxi. Cheapest: the R2 Nord train (T2) or metro L9 Sud (both terminals). Times below assume normal traffic.
| Option | Serves | From city centre | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aerobús | A1 → T1, A2 → T2 | ~35 min from Pl. Catalunya | Runs 24 hours a day, with less frequent buses overnight; dedicated luggage space. Check Aerobús departures and tickets. |
| Metro L9 Sud | T1 and T2 | ~32 min to Zona Universitària | T-casual is not valid at the airport metro stations. Use an airport ticket or another valid pass; check TMB's airport ticket rules. No direct line to Pl. Catalunya — you'll change lines. |
| R2 Nord train | T2 only | ~19 min from Sants, ~26 from Pg. de Gràcia | Every 30 min. For T1, take the free terminal shuttle: about 14 minutes on the bus, plus waiting and walking. |
| Taxi / ride-hailing | T1 and T2 | ~25–35 min | The fare depends on the route, traffic and applicable supplements. Check the official airport transport information before travelling. |
| Night buses | T1 and T2 | ~40 min | N17 serves T1; N18 serves both T1 and T2. These are alternatives to the 24-hour Aerobús. Check AMB's current routes and timetables. |

How early should I leave?
Work backwards from your boarding time on the departures board: allow the journey time above, plus 2 hours at the airport for short-haul (3 for long-haul), plus a margin if you're travelling at peak times — early morning and late afternoon are busiest at security.
