Guides Barcelona Airport: T1 to T2 transfer
Take the free airport shuttle between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. It runs 24 hours a day, including holidays. No bus ticket is needed.
Checked against Aena and TMB on . Follow airport signs and staff instructions if a stop changes.
Bus ride only: about 10 minutes from T1 to T2; about 14 minutes from T2 to T1.
The bus is outside security. Flying on? Read the connection checklist before planning your transfer.

How to get from T2 to T1

- At T1, follow Departures / Check-in for your onward flight.
See Aena's official shuttle stops and map and directions for your flight connection.
How often does the free shuttle run?
| Time of day | Bus frequency |
|---|---|
| 00:00–05:00 | Every 10 minutes |
| 05:00–08:00 | Every 7 minutes |
| 08:00–20:00 | Every 5 minutes |
| 20:00–00:00 | Every 7 minutes |
Frequencies and ride times come from Aena's shuttle information; they are not guaranteed departure or arrival times. Add waiting and walking time.
How long do I need for a connecting flight?
Bus time is not connection time. Changing T1 ↔ T2 takes you outside the secure transit area. You must pass security again at the departure terminal; passport checks depend on your route. Check the entry documents you need before travelling.
- Allow for getting off the aircraft, any baggage collection/recheck, the shuttle, security and the walk to your gate.
- Ask your airline whether your bags are checked through and how much connection time your itinerary needs.
- Check bag-drop and gate-closing deadlines, not just the flight's departure time.
There is no reliable one-size-fits-all connection allowance. Aena explains the checks for each flight combination. Already at the wrong terminal and short of time? Ask airport staff and contact your airline now.
Can I walk between the terminals?
Use the shuttle for T1 ↔ T2. Within T2, Aena estimates 2 minutes' walk for T2A–T2B and 5 minutes for T2B–T2C. Follow the signed public route; these are not gate-to-gate times.
Can I use the metro instead?
Yes. L9 Sud connects Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2, one station apart. You need a ticket or pass valid at the airport metro stations: an airport ticket or an eligible pass such as T-usual. An ordinary single metro ticket and T-casual are not valid there. Check TMB's ticket rules and operating hours. For a terminal-only transfer, the free bus is our default recommendation.
Need mobility assistance?
Arrange Aena's Barrier Free assistance with your airline and Aena before travel. Aena asks for at least 48 hours' notice. Explain that you need to change terminals so your connection can be planned.
Check your airline's booking information and the airport screens for your terminal. Our airline terminal finder and Barcelona departures board can help you prepare.
